Business Manager
SALARY £50,000 - £60,000
The Role:
A luxury product design startup is seeking a proactive and versatile Business Manager to oversee their HR and operational functions. Combining a strong focus on HR with broader business management responsibilities, you will work closely with senior leadership to support the team, streamline processes, and ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
With established markets in the UK, US, and Europe, this is an exciting and hands-on opportunity to contribute to a growing and collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
HR:
Oversee onboarding, employee handbooks, holiday tracking, and team policies.
Partner with the external HR consultancy to manage compliance and complex cases.
Review and improve policies, employee handbook, etc to maximise employee engagement, performance and fulfilment.
Support team well-being, engagement, and performance management.
Handle probation reviews, hiring of new staff and dismissals
Manage the KPIs for the sales team making sure they are met and update these when necessary
Operations:
Act as a central point of contact for operational matters alongside leadership.
When needed, assist with sales order processing and other operational duties.
Line manager to the sales team. Work alongside Head of Operations.
Manage ad hoc projects for the directors such as ISO certifications and sustainability
Assist with new collection launches and the testing of textiles.
Help develop contracts with suppliers and distributors.
Update textiles pricelists.
Implement and develop strategies and identify opportunities for growth.
Liaise with our external PR consultancy
Liaise with our external IT consultant and software developers
Manage the smooth running of the office liaising with the building’s management team when necessary
Organise monthly team meetings with UK, NL and USA.
Collaboration & Leadership:
Work alongside the founders and leadership to support business goals.
Lead and support a small team, fostering accountability and professionalism.
Drive process improvements and contribute to a positive workplace culture.
Financial Coordination (depending on experience):
Manage tasks such as commission statements, and overdue payment follow-ups.
Collaborate with the external accountant at month end to discuss any discrepancies and prepare the stock valuations.
Provide support for financial processes to assist the founders and enhance operational efficiency (depending on your expertise).
Assist with occasional reporting
Key Skills:
Strong experience in HR and operational management, ideally within a small business or startup environment in the design industry.
Confident collaborator with the ability to work effectively alongside senior leadership.
Highly organised, solutions-oriented, and adaptable to a fast-paced environment.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
A hands-on approach, comfortable managing both strategic and day-to-day responsibilities.
